About Your New Web Server

UUNET Canada Hosting Services

Welcome to your new web server. UUNET Canada has carefully designed this skeleton server to make it easy for you to get up and running. All you need to do is drop in your HTML files.

The following information will help you understand the authoring tools, features and system specifics:

Internet Information Server v4.0 ( Includes support for Active Server Pages and FrontPage Extensions )
Cold Fusion 4.0
Perl 5 for Win32
ASPMail

Files

On our server, your sites absolute path is /wwwroot/nt/servers/"your account"/web. When you FTP in, you will be placed in /wwwroot/nt/servers/"your account"/. You will then see the following directories:

conf - UUNET Canada uses this directory for storing configuration information about your site
data - This is where you'd put your database files
logs - This directory holds the raw web logs for your web site. These logs are in W3C Extended Log format.
web - This is where your web content goes. Your index page should be located here.

You have a limit of 100MB of disk space for your site content.

Statistics

You can find statistics about the usage of your server by pointing your browser at http://stats1.hosting.uunet.ca/. You will be asked for a Server ID, this is your account name. After that will then be prompted for a username and password. Use the same information that you use to login to FTP.
